What are the UN SDGs ?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global objectives designed to address pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. They aim to eradicate poverty, ensure access to quality education and healthcare, promote gender equality, foster sustainable economic growth, combat climate change, and protect our planet's resources. The SDGs provide a comprehensive framework for international cooperation, guiding nations and organizations towards a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

What is the Net Zero Carbon Events Campaign?

The event Industry wants to contribute to the UN SDGs in response to the threat of climate change and to support the many other areas included in the paradigm and vital for our survival in this world.

The Net Zero campaign is a race towards the net zero but what does this mean?

Net Zero signifies achieving equilibrium between human-induced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their elimination from the atmosphere. This equilibrium necessitates reducing GHG emissions and offsetting any unavoidable emissions by employing long-term carbon capture solutions to neutralize them.

The events industry operates as a complex ecosystem involving various stakeholders, including venues, event organizers, exhibitors, and suppliers providing services like catering, equipment, and signage. Furthermore, events often entail travel and accommodation for visitors and exhibitors. Achieving carbon emissions reduction throughout the entire value chain poses intricate challenges, particularly when certain aspects like transportation and lodging are beyond the immediate control of event organizers. Consequently, quantifying impact and defining responsibilities become essential in the industry's pursuit of net-zero goals. Moreover, numerous event industry companies have already adopted effective strategies to curb their carbon emissions, acknowledging that solutions vary depending on local environments and organizational sizes. This initiative recognizes the industry's unique challenges and aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, promoting alignment and the development of a shared roadmap.
